On Saturday, February 4, Hartford church disciple, Kelsey Allen, took a walk with her college roommate to pray at the West Hartford Reservoir. After about a mile along the path, the two found a major stash of flowers on the roadside with a card saying “Kelsey” on them. After a few awkward moments wondering what was up, Ben Koha appeared from out of the woods to take Kelsey for a further walk.
The contents of that conversation are not specifically known, but many other friends and family members (also hiding in the woods, behind rocks, etc.) did witness and take video of Ben dropping to one knee and posing the “Will You Marry Me?” question. By the hug and smile to follow, the answer was clearly “Yes!”
From the reservoir the happy couple drove out to Terryville for a carriage ride. Then it was over to the Allen family Red Top abode for a small party and time with friends. Finally, the beaming couple headed off to Sturbridge, MA, for a dinner with family members from both sides.
The following Sunday saw the two-some introduced as engaged in the South Region. Kelsey also joined with her youngest sister, Sarah, and Karina Charleston to sing a special song at the mostly teen-led service.
Many would say that the two most important decisions of life are who to make Lord and who to marry. After about four years of dating, it is inspiring to see Kelsey and Ben doing their best to choose God’s way.
