Once a month, the women of the Greater Hartford Church of Christ gather on a Wednesday for singing, sharing, praying and teaching sister-to-sister. On December 9, an inspirational service was held. Lorraine Grear did the teaching on perseverance. Her well-researched lesson contained many scriptures and practical pointers to live by.
But this Wednesday was also to hold an eternal memory as the new birth by baptism of Kahia Rookwood took place following the closing song. Kahia has been attending services for quite a while. She came initially as a guest of Celerick Stephens. Her commitment to the body has been exemplary. However, there were some fears holding her back and she was counting the cost. But after some soul searching, prayer and many Bible studies – Kahia made her decision to follow Jesus.
In addition to many women, several of the fellas showed up for the immersion as well. In fact, on this same night, Samenthur Blake was having her own physical baby (Tristan Caleb). Sam had been instrumental in the studies, along with many of the single women. So two births took place on this special evening.
It really was one wonderful Wednesday.
