The silver anniversary of a married couple is truly something special.  It is not only a renewal of vows to each other after 25 years, it is the strengthening of love all over again.  That is what Peter and Karen Rowe did at the Greater Hartford church building on March 5, 2011 in the presence of many witnesses.

As our “One More” series continued into the end of February, the 27th was designated as “One Word – Is the Bible Reliable?”  Though the campus ministry was out of town leading the Storrs’ worship and two New England marriage retreats pulled others away – those left behind had a spirited assembly where the preacher weighed himself, a Financial Peace testimonial video was shown and more.

On February 13, the single brothers hosted a great event for the single sisters of Hartford.  I guess you can call it a Valentine’s Day Appreciation Night.  This was a collective effort by all the single brothers, and we saw it as an opportunity to show our single sisters just how much they mean to us.

Our church has been studying out the essentials of unity from Ephesians 4:4-6 for the beginning of 2011.  There is nothing better to emphasize the hope God gives us than a baptism and that’s exactly what took place on February 20 at the 9 AM service.
Oliver Lester, a 19-year-old college student, said “Jesus is Lord” and then was immersed following some intense sharing from friends and now brothers-in-Christ, Daeshawn Kelly and Kyle Woodley.
Tim Blake preached at both morning services and all were inspired to be hopeful in this life and in the one to come.
